Mahmood Mamdani (Virtual lecture, 2026-2027)
Mamdani is the Herbert Lehman Professor of Government at Columbia University and was the director of the Makerere Institute of Social Research in Kampala from 2010 to 2022, whose work has made him a foremost voice on colonialism and political violence; Professor Mamdani is also the father of the co-founder of Bowdoin’s SJP chapter and the socialist Mayor of New York City.
